A rare handle from the Majapahit Kingdom era. This is a river find with natural condition and distinctive old patina.
Details & Characteristics:
Ivory Material : Natural dark brown to blackish color. Aged over time and shows the typical patina of ancient heirloom artifacts.
Figure Carving : Depicts a seated human figure with arms crossed over the chest. The face is calm, wearing a tradisional udeng headdress typical of the Majapahit era. Necklace and belt details are still cleary visible despite natural wear from age.
Carving Style : Simple yet strong character. The stout body proportion is typical of ancient Javanese "Handle", which is believed to symbolize fertility, serenity, an authority.
Function : Handles like this were commonly used as deder / Keris hilt during the Majapahit period. Beyond its function as a grip, it also holds tosan aji and spiritual value.
Size : Height 9 cm. Fits comfortably in hand, ideal for mounting on a pusaka Keris Blade.
Note: Due to being a river find and being hundreds of years old, natural wear and small cracks on the ivory are to be expected.
